OGLESBY — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team closed out its regular season with a 28-26, 25-18, 25-21 Arrowhead Conference sweep at Illinois Valley on Tuesday night.
The Chargers (23-15, 6-2) finished alone in second place in the conference. Setter Carmyn Baldwin (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) had 37 assists and 19 digs for Sandburg, and Gracie Rademacker (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) put down a team-high 14 kills on a .316 hitting percentage and added 10 digs for her 11th double-double this season. Four of those have come in the Chargers’ last six matches.
Carley Reeves-Eakins (Branson, Mo./Reeds Spring) also reached double digits in kills with 12, and Megan Crome (Marshall, Ill./Marshall) had half of the Chargers’ six blocks.
After sitting out the last three matches, Jasmin McDaniel (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) returned and had a team-high 26 of the Chargers’ 91 digs on the night in addition to serving two of Sandburg’s three aces. Gabby Blanchard (South Pekin, Ill./Pekin) also reached double figures defensively with 13 digs.
UP NEXT FOR SANDBURG
The Chargers will play in the Region IV Division II tournament hosted by Lake County on Nov. 6-7. Sandburg’s quarterfinal opponent has yet to be announced.
